For most of my rambunctious adolescent life, I had a strong curiosity. Specifically with sexual behavior and people — not — talking about it. I realized pretty quickly the topic of sex makes people very uncomfortable. From my experience, it seems to be a topic that usually dredges up negative experiences, or even makes someone feel exposed. Why is that?

Though there are some obvious answers to the above question, I narrowed my focus on knowledge and communication, and observed how they are gravely lacking. Truthfully, I struggle with the same. Effective, open communication is usually the ultimate problem solver. However, it doesn’t come naturally to many people, me included. In addition, due to the nature of the topic of sex, it’s met with extreme censorship, rules, and societal pressure to fit in. More so as a woman. In a society that often shamed especially women for exploring their desires, I realized it was a path to self-discovery and empowerment. For me, understanding and embracing my sexuality would not just be a deeply personal journey but a potential way to help others. 

I started my journey around my mid thirties. Since 2020, I felt a general shift within myself as much as the world was going through one of its most tumultuous changes. I decided to explore the unknown, try things I wouldn’t normally try and sought the knowledge to help me through this transformation. However, this process dredged up harrowing past traumas and I began to notice my own issues with sex. This led me down a dark, painful road. I remember thinking, “there has to be a better way.” I knew I had to start from the beginning and re-learn healthier habits. More importantly, give myself the one thing that was missing for so many years: acceptance of myself. This process has always been, and will always be, overwhelming and daunting. Yet I consistently and effortlessly choose it because it has taught me incredibly valuable lessons and truly brings me joy.

As I began this “building new habits journey,” I noticed a gradual change feeling lighter and freer. Immediately this validated the path I was on and my goals. Because of all the struggles and transformation from my own sexuality journey, this eventually led me into the industry and wanting to be a part of something bigger.

Through this new venture, I strive to show that being adventurous isn’t just about physical expeditions—it’s about exploring every facet of oneself, especially those that society might deem taboo. With impactful learning and creating spaces for open communication without fear or judgment, I truly believe the real change will begin. True adventure begins within—and that the greatest journey is the one to self-discovery and self-acceptance.
